Chandelier Make-Over

I'm sure many of you have seen this chandelier at Ikea. It's been in stock there for quite awhile. It's silver, simple, and easy on your wallet at only $40. In my opinion, it's okay as it is, but it's not nearly girly, overdone, or chic enough for my taste (or for my baby girl's nursery). It is simply too boring for me. I decided to do an over-the-top, tasteless, make-over to it! The outcome I had in mind was nothing short of "way too much!" I wanted it to look like it was dripping in pearls and diamonds. That was my goal---make it as flashy, cluttered, and extravagant as possible. Not classy, but gaudy! I was excited to do this project. Some of you will love it and some of you will hate it...personally, I LOVE it! :)
Here's what the original chandelier looked like.

I went to a craft store and bought a bunch of extra accessories to add to the chandelier; strands of pearls, lots of crystal pendants, and beaded lace. I even bought a HUGE crystal pendant to hang at the very bottom. The pendant is oversized and ridiculous---exactly what I wanted! :)

I then took apart most of the existing chandelier pieces to leave only the bare metal. I covered anything left over with tinfoil to avoid getting hit with the spray paint. I had Zach spray paint the entire thing white; chain, base, and light sockets included.

I began adding each strand of pearls and strand of crystals, one by one, with a pair of needle-nosed pliers.

I wrapped the base of the light sockets in pearls and secured it with hot-glue.

I finished it off by adding the crystal pendants to the sides, middle, and the large one at the bottom.

Love the giant pendant!

I had Zach install it in the nursery.

All done! I probably could have continued adding to it, but I made myself stop and call it good. I love it! It's a perfectly gleaming mess of "way too much" that looks fabulous in my little girl's nursery! :)

I bought the same chandelier for Kinzi's room and gave it a little TLC with some pink and black stones to match her room! It is a great bast but definitely needs something more too it.
